Lip Blush Tattoo - Pre-Treatment & Aftercare
WHAT TO EXPECT
Step 1 — Consultation & Lip Mapping
We begin by assessing your natural lip shape, symmetry and skin tone. Using professional lip mapping techniques, we design the perfect lip shape for your face. Colour is carefully selected to complement your natural lip colour and complexion.
Step 2 — Numbing
Topical anaesthetic is applied for 20-30 minutes before treatment begins. Most clients find lip blush very comfortable once numbed.
Step 3 — The Treatment
Pigment is gently applied using a soft machine technique, building colour gradually for a natural, flushed result. Your appointment takes approximately 2-3 hours.
Step 4 — Final Check
We’ll check colour and symmetry together before you leave. Aftercare kit and instructions provided.
HOW TO PREPARE
2 Weeks Before:
• If prone to cold sores, consult your doctor about antiviral medication — tattooing can trigger an outbreak
• No filler in lips for minimum 4 weeks
• No laser near lip area
72 Hours Before:
• No alcohol or blood thinners
• Stay well hydrated — hydrated lips hold pigment better
• Exfoliate lips gently with a lip scrub
• Apply a lip balm regularly in the days leading up
Day of Appointment:
• Come with clean skin and no lip makeup
• Eat before your appointment
• Avoid caffeine
YOU CANNOT HAVE THIS TREATMENT IF YOU ARE:
• Pregnant or breastfeeding
• Under 18 years of age
• Currently have an active cold sore or lip infection
• Have had lip filler in the last 4 weeks
• On Roaccutane (must be off for 12 months)
LIP BLUSH AFTERCARE
Days 1-4:
• Gently blot lymph fluid as needed with clean cotton pad
• Apply aftercare ointment regularly — keep lips moist
• No kissing, stretching or pulling lips
• No hot food or drinks — eat warm food only
• No makeup on lips
• Drink through a straw
Days 5-10:
• Lips will begin to peel — DO NOT PICK
• Continue applying aftercare ointment
• Colour will appear to disappear — this is normal
What to Expect During Healing:
• Days 1-3: Lips appear bright and swollen — much darker than final result
• Days 4-7: Peeling begins, colour fades significantly
• Weeks 2-4: Colour appears very light — the ghosting phase
• Week 6-8: True colour emerges and settles
Lip blush lightens 40-60% during healing. Your perfecting touch-up at 6-8 weeks is essential.
